Practical
How to pack for a week of nothing.
A short list, tested over four winters. Most of it is wool. None of it is a laptop stand.

Almost everything that goes wrong on a week in a cabin is a packing problem, and almost every packing problem is the same one: bringing clothes for the weather rather than clothes for the temperature swing.
The list
Two wool base layers, not three. A mid layer you can sleep in. One shell that actually seals at the wrists. Two pairs of thick socks and one thin. Something for your head that covers your ears without needing to be adjusted. Slippers, because every house has cold floors somewhere.
That is it for clothes. Everything else you might want is either already in the house or is something you brought because you were nervous.
What to leave
The laptop stand. The second book you will not start. The speaker: every house we list has one, and the ones that do not have a room quiet enough that you will not want it.
Four winters of testing and the only thing we have added to this list is a head torch. Not for walking. For finding the stove at five in the morning.
